Suzuki Beane, Love and Life

I grew up with this  amazing book…it was more of my sister’s book (as in, she trashed it with Crayolas long before I was a thought on the horizon), but I loved it. And a few years ago, I held it hostage when I found out on eBay that copies of this amazing mini tome were going for upwards of $75.

It was originally written as a parody of Eloise…but man, did my folks know that? I mean, this was our favorite childhood book. Take a look at the picture below of Hugh and Marcia! Night, night, honey? More like nightmare, nightmare, honey.

I don’t know the writer Sandra Scoppettone as much as I know Louise Fitzhugh, of Harriet the Spy fame. Ms. Fitzhugh wrote one of my favorite books ever, Nobody’s Family Is Going to Change.
